Default Which tool for fuel filter removal?

Looking at the advance auto parts website they have a few different sized tools like 1/2in, 5/8in, 3/4in, 7/8in, 5/16in and then they have ones without size distinctions and are simply called "Fuel line disconnect tools"

My 2000 required the 5/8 size. Most of the fuel line wrenches come with a different size on either end.

Your profile says 1999, I know the fuel filters changed at some point but on my 98 besides the 10 MM wrench to undo the bracket, I pulled off the fittings with my bare hands. They're just press and release.

Im going to try that way first... 9 times out of 10 when they call for a special tool to do something you can usually do it with a hammer, a set of pliers, and an IQ above 50. I'll be damned if I dont have 2 of those.

Well you can certainly hammer your fuel filter off if you wish, but as a fellow 99 C5 owner, I can tell you the correct tool is required to remove the forward (to the engine) disconnect on the fuel filter. I believe the tool was under ten dollars.

A surgeon has an IQ about 50, and could perform surgery with a steak knife, but a scalpel is the correct instrument.

Like stated above here you can get one of these!

I removed my fuel filter lines, fuel pump lines and the two ('98 Vette) on my fuel rail with a PLASTIC one my buddy bought at Pep Boys for cheap!

Each side is a different size so all you have to do is slip it in and turn it slightly to disengage the prongs and pop it free!

Thanks,Matt

OK in that case the 99's must have changed from the 98's.
