If I dont have a 160 degree thermostat installed can i still put in through the hypertech programmer the 160 degree thermostat option? and what does that thermostat mean? thanks! Also anyone know the best optiont to input for the hypertechIII options it gives? thanks again.
The one reason I would say not, is because when the 160 degree stats are installed, you can normally pull another couple of degrees of timing. If you do that and not lower the temp, you are subject to detonation.
But I am not sure what the Hypertech does with that setting, I use HPTuners.

most here won't use a Hypertech - since the rear gear scaling bug was never taken care of. Other than that... it's reported to be a good device.
The general rule-O-thumb for coolling fan temps - without changing the thermostat - is to lower the turn-on temp figures for by 5 degrees. And I'm not so certain this helps much, but without going to a lower temp thermostat... that's about all you can do.
