I am tearing the car apart in a couple of weeks for heads & cam swap. 2001 MN6. Heads are Trick Flow 215a milled to 59 cc. Cam is 236 / 238 X .6101 / .605. I am also looking at ported FAST 90 / 90. What do I need to do to swap the FAST for my existing manifold? I have searched and most of the info was good, but I wonder if anyone has a list of what needs to be modified in order to work on car.
I would like to have everything I will need before I get started. Also, I have heard that some are having sealing issues with teh FAST. Any specifics?
Get FAST brand port gaskets. They're thicker than the GM ones, which aid sealing. Read the write-up at ls1howto.com regarding a LS6 manifold swap. Much of that applies to your FAST install. If you have an '01-up, you already have the needed water passage plugs. You'll most likely have to bend the front crossover tube for clearence, but that's real easy. Of course make sure you replace the valley cover bolts with the supplied low-profile ones that come with your FAST, because if you don't, you can/will crack the bottom of your new manifold.
Are you doing the install yourself? If so I can give you a hand...your prolly about 5 mins from me. I grew up on the mean streets of Schompton! Also, if you want I can show you how to port the FAST. I picked up 20 rwhp with my port job over an LS6/Shaner tb.
Like was mentioned above, get the FAST port gaskets. When its in place, tighten from the middle outward. Also relocate the MAP because it will hit the firewall.
I made a thread about my FAST install. Let me see if I can dig it up.
