I was driving my 1997 C5 on the hight way at about 60 mph when all of a sudden the Service Vehicle Soon message appeared on my DIC. My traction Control and ABS light but came on. I Went home shut the car off turned it back on and both lights remained on as well as the message from the DIC to servece vehicle soon. Any idea?? Thanks

Always start by puling the codes then research them. Good probability you will know what the source of the problem is from them.

There probably isn't a C5/Z06 question that hasn't been asked and answered a thousand times on this site. The best way I've found to get technical questions answered is with research in C5 Tech forum.
Go to the C5 tech forum and click on "search this forum" (in the red banner) and use keywords to describe what you're looking for.
For example, "pulling codes from DIC" in this case. You'll find numerous pages of past discussions that will undoubtedly help you.
You might also look at your owners manual. Rudimentary as it is, it does have a wealth of information. If you don't have one, you can still buy them from a number of sources, including EBAY. Or, you can download your manual from site supporting vendor GMPARTSHOUSE...click on "downloads". They're in a PDF format.
http://www.gmpartshouse.com/
You can also check the sticky topics on the top of the C5 Tech and C5 General forums for great information that applies to anything C5/Z06.
Here is another site that provides information on codes pulled from the DIC.
http://www.corvettedoctor.com/Code_Main.html
If the two sites provided don't point you in the right direction, post back in C5 Tech. Someone will help you...

ABS module? not necessarily. Also, I don't drive my car in snow/slush and like having ABS.

You'll want to understand your "H" history codes too. This will give you an idea of what intermittent problems that you've been having.

I am sending you an e-mail with a PDF file detailing the diagnostics for those two codes. A code only tells you a symptom of a problem has been detected. It doesn't necessarily tell you what the problem part is. Both of your codes could be caused by poor voltage levels. Start with checking the battery condition and the wiring to the battery. Unlike later model C5s the EBTCM on your 97 is located in the rear by the diff. Check all of the wiring and grounds associated with it and make sure the contacts are making contact and are clean and free of corrosion. P1571 indicates the PCM isn't receiving the required torque signal. This could be due to poor contacts/grounds causing a low voltage signal, a problem with the battery, a problem with the EBTCM/PCM wiring, a problem with the EBTCM, or a problem with the PCM. P1626 isn't related to the TC problem but could result in a starting issue if not addressed. Your PCM is in failed enable mode as communication between the PCM and BCM have been lost. This could also be another indication that you need to check the battery condition and the connections at both battery posts for corrosion/loose grounds, etc.

I just took it out for about 45 mins worth of driving let the computers reset themselves, no problems with anything car was driving like normal. I did check the codes after driving i had 2 the P1571H and
U1016H. My question to you guys is does my problem still exsist? and its just a matter of time before the light comes on again? Thanks

Clear all of your codes (H & C), drive and enjoy it...periodically check the DIC for any codes.
