Default Broke the car last night...

On my way home from the shop last night I decided to take advantage of the empty roads and cold weather and run the Z through the gears. I wound out second and went for third, but hit a wall and bumped off the limiter. I thought I had missed the shift, but the clutch pedal felt real funny and I couldn't get into any gears at all. So I pulled over, put it in neutral and pumped the clutch pedal a bunch of times. The pedal felt normal again so I put it in first and started to let the clutch out and that's when I noticed the vibration. First thought was I bent a valve when I bumped the limiter, but then I realized the clutch was engaging really high and just felt horrible and the motor still runs real crisp. Luckily I was just around the corner from home and was able to get there, but I can only get it in gear below 1500 rpm, anything higher and it just won't engage or disengage. Also, when I shut it off you can hear "broken noises" coming from the clutch.

Now, let's hear which clutches you guys like/recommend since this is my DD and I need one NOW. BTW, this was an Exedy single disc so I'm not getting another one.

Thanks for the help and sorry for the long post.

Justin

If it is indeed a broken clutch I would recommend an X-Grip Textralia. As a suggestion I would try bleeding the slave first. Although your clutch isn't stock, there have been a lot of threads regarding sticky clutches, do a search. Lot's of info. It might save you a lot of aggravation and money.

I've been bleeding the clutch about every two weeks since I bought the car to avoid the sticking pedal. Also, the pedal isn't sticking, it actually feels normal. Last night I moved it into the shop and the clutch made a loud twang sound when I released it and when I shut the car off I heard some broken parts rattle in the bellhousing. I'm pretty positive that it's broken.

I ran Tex Single for a year on the track last year and it has to be the best after market clutch out there. We have them around if you need it shipped quickly.

Ok, that doesn't sound normal. Time to pop the inspection cover and find out what that is. I'm thinking, a pressure plate mounting bolt came out or one of the dowels came out.

I'm definately going to go with a Tex since I've only heard good things, but I can't decide which one to go with, X, Z or Exo Skel. I am going to forge and supercharge it sometime in the not to distant future so I may go Exo so I don't have to upgrade later. Any recommendations?

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'm curious what I'll find when I get in there next weekend...

Definately EXO if you are going Forged and S/C. My LS7 setup has the Exo Skel.

Send me a PM for pricing.

My textralia shutters like a cold cat in the winter rain if you let it out to slow.

Grabs great at high RPMS
