Im thinking I might like to change out my shifter **** to the billard style. I had one years ago in my 68 Z28 Camaro. I was wondering how some of you that have installed them like them. I saw a black one with the Corvette logo advertised at Ecklers that looks pretty nice. I also saw another one offered in black or white with the 6 speed pattern on them. They also offer them in 2 inch or 2.25 inch diameter but I really don't know if that little bit would make much difference. I wear medium size gloves so I think a 2 inch would probably be fine. I was also wondering if there is any trick to getting the stock shifter **** off. Thanks for your answers.
I switched to the black ball with logo. Looks great but is hot to grab when car sits in the sun. I had a heck of a time getting the original handle off..there is a clip that holds it in place. I did a search to figure out how to get it off. Good luck......

I swapped the C5 shift **** with a Hurst black shifter ball w/shift pattern when I swapped out the C5 Z06 shifter for the C6 Z06 shifter. My advice: get a new pair of vice grips and protect the front windshield.

I have the 2" black billiard shifter ****, works great. I cut down the stock shifter and then rethreaded it using a die. I have relatively small hands and leave the top off in the summer, no problems with it burning my hands.
Happen to remember the die size when you cut and rethreaded your shifter?....thanks
The size is 9/16" x 18. You can also make these, they are pretty easy to do. I have made a solid black shift **** (black cue ball) and an oversized 8 ball ****. Total cost for both ***** and tap was about 20 bucks.
