Important Announcement:
We have confirmed that AC Delco has discontinued the Gold UPF44 Oil Filter. We are hopeful that our local AC distributor can fill our outstanding orders. Beyond that I am sorry to say that unless AC Delco receives pressure from our customers this superior filter will no longer be available! To date we have sold over 1000 UPF44 filters!
Please send an email stating your dissatisfaction with the discontinuation of the UPF44 Oil Filter to AC Delco here: cac@acdelco.com
Please CC your email to them to us here: corvetteparts@hotmail.com
You can also call AC Delco at: 1-800-ACDELCO
Call Bob at Fitchner or Shawn at LAPD FAST! I confirmed this with AC Delco as well!! I just orderes 2 cases!
Damn AC!?! And I just started using this filter. I guess it's time to track down a case or get ready to use some WIX filters. From what I've been told the WIX is 97% efficient whereas the AC is 99%. Anyone else got a better solution?
I'm using the UPF44 as well. Hastings used to put out a good filter years ago; don't know about now. Anyone using Hastings filters or know whether they are still as good as they used to be?
I might see if I can run down some info....if it looks promising, I'll pass it on in this forum.

Mark,
Amsoil sells Hastings filters besides their own. Check their web site.
I searched for some info on the Hastings filter and found that Hastings and Amsoil have reached some marketing agreement whereby Amsoil will sell Hastings filters. So it is probably a good filter.
However I was unable to crossreference a Hastings and a UPF44 or a PF44. But Amsoil offers what appears to be an excellent filter of its own...
Part # SDF32.
I know that we have some folks here who use Amsoil (which IMO is an excellent motor oil) products so maybe they will chime in with some anecdotal reports if they have used the Amsoil Oil Filter. Looks like one we might consider.

Thanks Ed......I had stumbled upon that info in my own cumbersome manner. :D :D You are quite right. :yesnod:
We have forwarded your concern to our Marketing Department for further
review. We are assuming that
they have been discontinued due to lack of sales. There is still stock
on this filter, you can order
them from your local GM dealership as long as supplies last.
Thank you for your interest in ACDelco.

If you are changing your oil at 3000, then the standard PF44 should be fine. If you stretch it past that or follow the DIC, then I would look for alternatives.
I just changed to the mobil-1 M-107 filter @ $12 a unit. Seems to work ok and seems to be very high quality on visual inspection. Oil pressure went up about 3-4 pounds at higher RPM, even when at 200 degree oil temp. I use mobil-1 oil so why not the filter too?
I guess the point here is that the AC Gold is FAR superior to the Mobil 1! I have heard of issues with the Mobil 1 in the beggining! You may as well buy the Pure one as the filter media are one in the same and a heck of alot cheaper.
