GM lists a different part number and cost for the C5 Manual Shifter Units. (Shifter and Pivot box) LS1 is 10331311 and the LS6 is 10331310
Aftermarket shifters to do make that distinction, which may account for the differences in sound quality and performance sited by various members.
Can anyone offer more info on this? Thanks.
I had already answered your duplicate post just as you oopsed it...
If those part numbers include the "pivot box" beneath the shifter mechanism, the only difference might be the (Z06) solid vs rubber bushings which secure the "box" above the torque tube.

The problem is that the LS6 10331310 part number is $289.52 and the LS1 10331311 is $357.86. There must be more to it than bushings, and why is the LS1 more expensive?
Well then, my suggestion would be to contact Gene at GMPARTSHOUSE. He's the site supporting vendor who's been selling hundreds of the C6/Z06 shifters so he'd probably know. His website can be found on the main menu page, column to the left.
For that difference in price it must be more than the bushings...maybe one comes with the popular ergonomic **** and one comes without?
I'm pretty sure no one has been paying anywhere near either of those two prices you quoted...seems like it's closer to $200 from Gene, including the "pivot box", shifter mechanism and ergonomic ****.

Thats the only difference I could find as well.
Gene Culley can get you a new C6Z shifter (with housing & bushings) and **** for ~200.
Complete kit 185.21
For this kit on our website, use part number 08z06shifter under Chevrolet make.
It's not about the price(s). It's about the shifters. The price I quoted is the GM Listed Price. Various suppliers discount as Gene does.
The difference in GM part numbers and Listed Prices indicate there is a
difference in shifters. The C5 LS1 Trans is not the same as the C5 LS6 Trans. The C6Z Transmission is not the same as the C5Z Transmission. Just trying to find the real differences in the C5 Shifter Units that only come from GM with the Shifter and Pivot Box as one unit.
You might be making more of this than necessary. Any C5/Z06 or C6/Z06 shifter from '97 to '07 will interchange. The all mount the same. If you look at the popular after market shifters (B&M, HURST, KIRBAN, CALLAWAY, etc), they usually show one for C5/Z06 and one for C6/Z06. The only difference is the angle of the lever.
The only difference in the oem shifters is the lever (C5/Z06 9/16-18" threaded or C6/Z06 push on ****), the angle of the lever (C5/Z06 straight, C6/Z06 angled), the **** (C5/Z06 square, C6/Z06 elongated/ ergonomic) and the method of mounting the **** (C5/Z06 thread on, C6/Z06 push on w/ fastener on the side).
I didn't include '08 because rumor had it GM made some changes for improvement in the "feel" of the shifter...I don't know what that was, but I suspect that even an '08 C6/Z06 shifter would mount to any C5/Z06 application and vice versa if you were so inclined.
