Air Pump
Assuming your car is cold, then the air system should come on when you first start your car. I did this while diagnosing my P0410 problem and the air pump worked fine.
That is why I never suspected the vacuum line being the problem...but it was. The Chevy technician, using the Tech2, showed me how when he programmed in for the air pump to come on, it wouldn't. I cannot understand nor explain why it would work for me using the above procedure but not work for him while using the Tech2. Regardless, he was right in his assessment.
If so, have you tried the trick with blowing some carb cleaner through the check valves a couple of times followed by blowing WD-40 through the check valve a few times? Apparently, this was worked for a lot of people and saved them from having to replace the check valves.
Is the check valve stuck open or closed?
I am concerned that a lean condition exists on my car and it was suggested that the valve may be letting air by.......????

I filled the line with carb cleaner and let it sit. Put the air hose to it, buttoned it all back together and haven't had the CHECK ENGINE light or codes since!!RonJ ...
