I have a head and cam car that will have 3.90's and about 470rwhp. It's mainly a street car but might rarely see the 1/4 or HPDE. Which clutch should I go with?
1. LS7 clutch
2. Textralia single
3. RPS single
4. other
Also, should I do the drill mod to the slave?
What about adjustable master cylinders?
If you didn't do two things, you'd be making a huge mistake.
1) Get a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. I have 500 RWHP and it holds great. The pedal feels like stock. Maybe even a little better, especially when you do #2.
2) Get a new slave cylinder. Order a new one for an 04Z. You will get an updated slave that has the drill mod already done (bigger line), a bigger diameter throwout bearing, and all the benefits of a new slave (fresh seals, etc.).
An adjustable MC is not needed. Make sure you use the highest temp fluid you can find like Motul or something.
I'm going to install a Textralia this spring and I will have around the same power as you. My Friend, who owns a lS1 performance shop, told me Textralia is the only thing he would put in his car.

That's funny because it's the only thing I wouldn't put in my car.

I just finished installing my new Textralia Exo Skel today which replaced my Exedy single disc which broke last Sunday. So far I love the engagement of the Tex over the Exedy (much smoother and more predictable), but the pedal feel is quite a bit stiffer. I just need to get used to it. So far, my vote is for Textralia.
I will definitely be putting in a new slave and master and wrapping the lines with DEI heat shielding wrap. My tuner has suggested the ls7 or the RPS single. I don't think they've been too thrilled with the Textralia, but everyone has an opinion.AlohaC5 How is the clutch pedal feel on the RPS say compared to stock?

Initially, the RPS single disc clutch with aluminum flywheel had a heavier pedal feel than stock, but over time it became smooth and not as heavy. It's a good clutch that's handling my 500+ rwhp and 465+ rwtq.
I have the RPS single disc clutch with aluminum flywheel (2 years).
Its been great, as noted the pedal feel is a little heavier. it might chatter once in a while. I will be replacing it with a Textralia single disk(I have one waiting)
then I will get the RPS rebuilt (approx. $600) for the next replacement.
