All my checks for my 98 coupe, with no major mods, are clear with no codes except for BCM B2721 and B2723 for Pass Key Detection. I have looked for solutions and the only issue with my keys are with the security engine cut off, but I temporarily resolved the issue by using both keys if one key cuts out I use the other. My dash's security light indicator does remain on during most the the car's use. I would like to resolve these issues. Any help ??? THANKS TO ALL.
The BCM is detecting an invalid resistance from the PassKey pellet in your keys. Since it seems to happen with both, I'd suspect there is dirt in the contact area in either the keys or the ignition lock.
I'd try cleaning the pellets VERY carefully in the keys. I'd start with a pencil eraser to "burnish" the contacts on the pellets, then clean carefully with an alcohol wipe. Insert a key into the lock several times (you don't need to turn the key ... insert ... pull out .... insert... pull out .... you know the routine ... ) and then clean the pellet again.
Hopefully it is just dirt since you have the problem with both keys.
If that doesn't clear it, you will either need to replace the ignition lock, or bypass the VATS system.
