I have a 98 coupe and was wondering if any one has ever installed dynamat under the carpet? I would like to eliminate the road noise more than the heat. I thought of doing just the area behind the seats first to see if that helps. Is it easy to install under the carpeting? I also thought of putting it in the tunnel area but doubt it would fit under the carpet on the sides and under the console.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
check out crazy cowboys insulation kit. has full of half kits, but as you will soon find out, a single layer will not entirely eliminate road noise. a layer of mat deadener and a layer of foam deadener will be most effective. IMHO dynamat is over priced. look into RAAMAT and elemental designs for deadening solutions. From elemental its eDead v1SE² for the mat, and eDead v4 for the foam layer. the foam blocks the higher frequencies. Can't remember what the specific names are from raamat, but i hear that Rick from that company is very helpful as well as are the guys from elemental
Thanks for the feedback. I never heard of crazy cowboy. Is it a web site? Tried looking it up and got a site for the dallas cowboys?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again
Friend and I each did our 2000 coupes with an insulating wrap from Home Depot - think it was Frost King. Did the tunnel area in with a bubble wrap insulator found in the same area - it fit easily under the tunnel and is sticky!! Obviously the whole job was cheap. We did the whole back area of the coupe with the Frost King. Also behind the seats and the floor wells also. It is much quieter and cooler now - not hard just tedious.

Crazy Cowboy is a supporting vendor. Here is a post with his info,
Dynamat is a vibration dampener. It's designed to be used on areas that tend to rattle or vibrate (large plastic or fiberglas panels) Dynamat and other dampening material is best use in the cargo area and door panels.
What you really need to reduce exterior noise (especially loud exhaust) is acoustic foam. secondskinaudio.com sells several different types of acoustic which works very well at taming my borla stingers (w/ headers)
