Leaking transmission fluid
My mechanic says the gasket between the transmission and rearend is leaking.
Can you tell me what's involved in replacing the gasket, ie, cost, labor and time.

I'm not sure it's the "gasket" between the tran & diff. There is no gasket. There is a seal plate which has a o-ring on the perimeter and a output shaft seal. I would be questioning what the heck your mechanic is talking about.

I'm sure my semi-retired GM mechanic knows it's a seal.
It's me you should be questioning.
I'm guilty sometimes of interchanging the two words.

I'm confused....You had a mechanic look at your tranmission, he diagnosed the problem, but he cannot give you an estimate for the repair??
