I'm considering high-flow CATS, and was curious if anyone has any experience or suggestions (preferably with H/C cars). Advantages?? Disadvantages?? $$$?? Brands?? Etc... Thanks.

MorFlow makes a good product. They have three different sizes that I know of... 2.25, 2.5, 3 inch inlet exhaust piping. Drawbacks? None... Advantages? More flow and environment friendly. I passed easily with a single cat on a cammed car, so with the dual cat of the C5 emissions would probably be even less.
Re: Anyone have any experience with high-flow CATS?? (JWSchmidt3)
As you can see from my sig, I've got C&L High Flows on my ARE setup. I had run straight pipes until I decided which of the high flow systems to use. I found the cat-free setup a bit loud, and the car felt a little "hollow" at low RPM's (mind, I'm running an aggressive cam and heads optimized for high lift/high rpm flow). The C&L's quieted things just enough to improve livability, and restored a sense of "fullness" at low rpm, without detracting from WOT performance.
C&L cats have high flow rates, and the company is willing to make a variety of custom pipe diameters and sizes (which I needed). They are also local to me, a plus. The cats were easy to install, and needed no sign. modification to the rest of my plumbing (TTS LT's; Corsa X pipe, Corsa Indy).

I have the Random Technology 3" barrel high flow cats. Random makes the Cadillac of high flow cats; they have the highest flow ratings.
I do not have dyno numbers, this is just my opinion, but any gains were minimal. They make the exhaust sound ever so slightly deeper (which I like).
General consensus has been that it is not worth the money, even for a h/c car like mine. May be more necessary for a larger displacement.
Cost was about $125/cat (not sure, I got a deal from a forum member). The 3" cats fit easily. Others may or may not depending on what long tubes you run; space is at a premium down there. Install was about 150. The cats have 3" pipe so there is a lot of welding to transition from 2 1/2 to 3 then 3 to 2 1/2.

Car sound is another good company and makes a great flowing cat. You are looking at around $100 a piece.
I am looking forward to seeing how your setup turns out JW. It sounds like you are pulling out all the stops! :)

Not pulling out all the stops, just looking at all my options. When I'm done, I'm done. No more adding this or that. I like to weigh gain vs value. It seems the cats are not meeting my gain vs value requirement, so I'll probably not do it. I'd like more opinions and experiences though before I make my final decision. My "little project" should be complete by this weekend. I'll be more than happy to discuss details and results then.

C&L $89ea 2.5" SD's.
They will far outflow your cat-back mufflers.
You should pick up 5-10 rwtq.
I'm not sure I fully understand your reference to "cat-back mufflers". I have PRT's and an x-pipe, so can I flow any more?? Am I correct in assuming I will not gain any hp but I should gain torque?? Thanks.
Re: Anyone have any experience with high-flow CATS?? (SilverStar)
I saw a study of the flow characteristics of cats for various vehicles and the comparison with what is available from the aftermarket. The winner was the Dodge cats for pickup trucks. They significantly outflowed Random. I'll will try to find the article for everyone. However, I don't believe that the bang for the buck is there. Cats are expensive. If you want the ultimate, then I guess it's worth pursueing.

Have you ever seen the size of the Dodge truck cats? I bet they won't fit under the C5.... :)
