Default Ported Throttle Body - Come on in...

Guys,

I'm looking for some good first hand info on porting the TB.

Cost?
Who does it?
Performance gain?
Negatives?

Thanks a bunch!

add one along with a FAST intake, and I'm expecting 25 solid HP

I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet!

You may notice a little lack in the low end torque, but higher rpm power will be up. My Corsa mufflers took away torque on the lower end of my vette.

Mark Shaner (S2 Performance) is probably the most well known porter on the forum. Does a great job. Your looking between $150.00 and $200.00.

I don't think there is really any hp gains associated. If there is it is very few. However, the throttle response is AMAZING!. You will notice a difference in the feel and you will love it!

Negatives- None really, once you have it installed. There can be some down time while you wait for your TB to be completed.

Its a good mod! Well worth it!

I have seen Mark Shaners (S2 Performance) work-
VERY nice.

one soon (shaner ported stock TB).
He is moving up to a 90mm and a fast 90.

Did it myself for free in about 2 hours, no negatives unless you mess it up

His work is beautiful !

I learned a long time ago, much like sheetrock, there are some things that you could do yourself, but you would way better off working a little OT at your day job and hireing done! hahahaha

Mine went on along with a home installed ECS Novi so no way to judge gain but it sure looks fine!

Shaner TB here.

Cost - $150
Who does it - Mark Shaner
Performance gain - Vastly improved throttle respose. (Gets you to the powerband faster) probably picked up some HP to especially at the top end.
Negatives - You'll need to buy a "tamper proof" torx 15 bit to swap out the Throttle body electronics... or have your locak mechanic let you borrow his.

I found the tamperproof torx bit at Sears. Two autoparts stores I tried didn't carry them.
If your not going to do it yourself, Shaner does an excellent job. I've never read that anyone was dissatified with his work.

After port and polish 10 hp increase
Fast throttle response
Can have slight rpm increase on start up which will subside
Best results with larger bridge/increased air intake(filter)

just be prepared to be on the phone awhile, he will talk your ear off i found a set of tamper proofs at the auto parts house, not autozone or o'reallys or other chains, a real auto parts house.
