If it's a chattering noise at slow speeds, especially in turns then you should look at your rear diff. The limited slip posi-traction may be slipping. When was the last time you serviced your rear diff?
On the other hand, if it is more of a "clunk" noise then I can tell you what to check. The 97-01 have plastic sway bar end links and when those go bad they make a clunking noise. In fact, that just happened to me last month. Replace your end links with the new cast alluminum ones they put on the 02-04. Same ones for front and rear.
Its not a chatter, its definately a clunking noise. I hear it while shifting in the lower gears, and when accelerating/decelerarting. Now that I hear it, it is becoming more obvious. I will check the mentioned items that you suggested. Thanks, Jeff
