Default How to delete column lock recall reprogramming

Question...I bought my 02 Z06 used. The previous owner had the recall(s) done, which for my car requires a reprogram of the ECM. Can I get around the fuel shutoff issue by using tuning software and flashing an original non-recalled tune into the ECM? Better yet, is there somewhere in the tuning software where you can disable the fuel shutoff commands?

Obviously I would like to go back to a non-recalled state, install the CLB and be done with it. Just trying to figure out how to do that once the recalls have been performed. If tuning software can do it then that is just one more justification for buying EFILive or HP Tuners.

Thanks.

As I recall the GM fix changed the Segment 1 part of the PCM for fuel shutoff, most of the conventional tuning products do not address that part. You might check with HPTuners or EFILive forums to see if their custom operating systems can do that change. Otherwise get a 411 PCM from a camaro or truck and have it loaded with stock tune.

I sure will.

I read in the column lock sticky that their were folks that had their car tuned and then they took it in for the column lock recall and the dealer had wiped out the tune. I am just trying to go the other direction. I guess we really need the advice of a tuner that knows how and where the ECM stores its information. Since I am not familair with tuning software I am not sure if when you tune your car you only making changes to a certain variables or when you flash the changes to the ECM does it overwrite everything including the GM recall settings.
