I,m new to site and looking for help. I have a 02 6sp convert with a tilt/telescoping wheel that has a mind of it,s own. Wheel will run to full outward position and lock for awhile, then you can return wheel only to have it extent again.I have pulled the fuse to stop this which means loss of seat controls ext. Looking for fix. Dealer no help.
I hate to state the obvious, but just to make sure I have to ask. Do you know that the Steering Wheel will telescope out after you:
1 Open the door with your keyless entry (FOB) and then
2 Insert the key into the ignition.
If your key detects that it is being removed, the Steering Wheel will retract back. It could be that your ignition is a little loose and thinks your key is being removed. I would try to see if it retracts after you insert the key and jiggle it or vibrate the dash. - Ron
Have I got news for you! Look at the 7-pin connector at the bottom of the driver's seat to car interface area. Make sure that connector has clean and tight connections or else your telescoping steering wheel, will have a mind of its own.
I would check to see if there are any DTC that may help pinpoint the problem. If you don't know how to display DTC on the DIC .... go here for instructions ...
Post the entire code (easiest to do from MANUAL mode ... and post it as B1234H or whatever ...) as the leading character (B, P, C, etc) and the trailing character (H, C, or HC) also aid in the diagnosis.

Thanks, I'm going to try this on Saturday. My telscoping started to act up this past weekend. It would work one minute and not the next.

THANK YOU! I wiggled the wire connector under the seat, pressed it in a little tighter and eureka! It worked perfectly. Thanks again for the feedback!
