Help; Fuel system error P1431
Hello gang, I could use some advice on the first problem that I’ve encountered on my 98 coupe. Without warning my Instrument Cluster “Check gages” light turns on”, The DIC reads Low Fuel, and my gas gage is reading empty. Sometimes it will recover but often it will not. This started last week on my way home from work and has repeated a few times. Last night I downloaded the fault codes and I recorded this code; P1431 Fuel level sensor 2 circuit performance”. Can anyone describe to me what this is and how to correct this error? I’ve reset all the H and C codes and will monitor the conditions.

I too was getting this code and my tank level was going to zero. Normally I would feed it some techron and no problem for a short while again. Then I found out there is a software/firmware update from GM for this specific issue. I had that update as well as all of them put in and no more problem. The code is for the right tank sending unit.

Have to pay the dealer to do it with a Tech 2. I was surprised to find out the dealer's don't seem to know there are fixes out there for some of the issues.
