do dealerships carry these or is this a vendor thing?

My understanding is the "upgraded" slave cylinder is one part number for all C5 Corvette's .....

GM Part Number 89059282

You can order it from a dealer, but supporting vendors such as ....

Offer the GM part usually at a better price than the dealer parts department.

This is true, there is only ONE OEM part number for a 97-04 slave. They are all the "updated" version now.
