I used to have a na mustang cobra that i did a gear change in it and it seemed to help it a lot and make it a lot faster. I have a 01 Zo6 and was thinking about changing the gears to make them more aggressive has anybody done this? Do they even make gears for an 01 ZO6? Any opinions welcome?
Most C5/6 owners change out the entire rear differential aka "pumpkin". It takes skill and special tools to switch out the ring & pinion in a C5/6 diff. It's a simple, although time consuming, task to R&R the rear diff. It's well worth the effort .
I will be replacing my gears hopefully before spring. The old fashioned way DIY. I figure instead of paying someone to do it I can buy the tools and help other locals do the same and save some money. It will cost me the same either way.

I do all my own work as well. Unfortunately, gear sets occasionally whine, which means if you do it yourself, you either tear it down again or live with it. RPM now dyno's their diff rebuilds. So they are already broken in and checked out when you get it. All you gotta do is install it. That's worth the extra $$ to me.

RPM? Supporting vendor? Would you happen to have prices?

The Z06 uses the MN12 tranny rather than the MN6 used in coupes. The difference is in the tranny gear ratios. Keep that in mind when deciding on a gear.
4.10's in a MN12 equates to a first gear equivalent of 4.56's for MN6 cars. If you plan to drag the car, going that high may lower your 1/4 due to an extra shift. Just something to think about.
