So I'm backing out of a parking space this morning and all of a sudden the car just shut off. I got a "Pull key wait 10 secs" message".
I pulled the key and waited then restarted and drove off.

The dealer I bought the car from told me the recall had been done. I specifically asked him about it. He looked on his computer and said that it had been.
Around these parts it probably means a minivan or school bus was within 10 seconds of colliding with your car. While you were staring at your DIC display, a 2003 Dodge Caravan driven by a soccer mom bent on getting her seven children to seven different locations by sunrise sped past you at 2,873 mph. Due to her after market 4ftx8ft review mirror used to look back at her children while driving, she never saw you backing out of your parking space.
Your car being aware of its impending doom stopped its own engine and halted the car until the danger passed. You should go outside, give it a hug and say thank you.

Try cleaning the "resistor" chip in your key with alcohol. Usually a dirty chip is the cause. This error does NOT have to be related to the column lock problem.

Yep. Not a column lock issue. As mentioned, clean the pellet. If it still does it then read the resistance on the pellet. You may need a new key. I had the same problem and I read the resistance on the pellet and it was off. Had a new key made and have not had a problem since.

There are 15 values. It is mentioned that the resistance should be +-10% of the stated value. Not 100% true. There are small resistance values and large resistance values. That 10% can get pretty huge. I had replaced the key and have not had that happen since. It got annoying after a few times towards the end.

Around here, we find Jack Daniels works better. Just don't drive the car for an hour or two to be sure the cleaner wears off. Buddy of mine tried to tell some LEO's he had been cleaning his keys the other night and they didn't buy it.
Y'all know this is a joke, right? Wouldn't ever suggest that any responsible person would combine alcohol and high performance. Nope. Wouldn't be prudent.
