Default 383 stroker rwhp, Help ???

3 or 4 questions to help with my 2003 Zo6 : I NEED SOME FACTS
Going with 383 Stroker kit.

1) What rwhp/tq are you guys getting ?
2) What cam grind ?
3) Is is still very streetable ?
4) what kind of 1/4 times if you run it, and sixty foot ?

I'm trying to get a very rough idea on where I will be with my 390 gear. Heads will be AFR 225 or comparable, 90 mm ported fast intake.
I was at 433rwhp with 400tq before on stock bottom end , AFR 225, 90mm Fast, 342 gear and baby 224 cam.

I am running a 383 in my z06 right now with 3.90 gears. The car works awesome on the street. The low end torque it generates is a real kick. If you go wide open throttle traction will be an issue even with drag radials. I used Dart 205 heads on my setup with a 239 243 cam and put down 486 rwhp 473 rwtq. I recently changed the heads for a better flow and will be stepping up the cam to break 500 rwhp with my setup. I am running the fast 90 and ls2 tb. I have not had much track time since I have broken the rear end last April. I should have some times in the next few months. I recently had a best of 11.4 with a 1.60 60 foot time just taking it easy with the car. I am sure on motor it will knock off some 10s I just need the practice and seat time.

Thanks SIG,
Do you know all the specs on your cam ???? ...I''m trying to make a decision.
I have in mind approx 232-646 intake & 236-615 exhaust on a 111 LSA for my setup.
Sounds like you will break the 500 barrier with the heads alone. I think your cam grind is doing you right already, being you are on the street.

Looks like the 234/238 cam was a pretty good choice.

With the new cam it should help out along with the heads. I have the cam card at home, but here is what I remember of the cam. It is a 239 intake duration with around .613 lift. The exhaust is a 243 duration with around .617 lift. The cam is cut on a 112 lsa and has 4 degree advance ground into it. The cam behaves decently on the street with the new heads I just put on, but acted worse with the Dart 205s. I am currently making the same hp as before, but lost 10 rwtq with the heads. Just in looking at the VE table I think I know why. It appears that my new heads are not filling the cylinders as well on the top end as I lost a good amount of VE. Now the low side of the car gained VE and it runs so much better driving on the street now.

If I were you I would think a little bigger on the cam. I know my friend Jason built a 383 and made over 500 rwhp with a 236/248 cam. My new heads flow really well all the way to .850 lift so I am definitely putting as much lift as I can in the new cam.

I think it's all in the post(s) at some point or another (cam specs, parts, FWHP, dyno graph's and comparisons, etc). Most of his initial testing was on an engine dyno if I understand it correctly. The only RWHP stuff is with his final solid roller combo I believe. Click on both links I posted and follow all of Tony's links in his posts.

IMO you should buy the heads, have them flow tested, and match the cam to that. The cam sigforty is using probably wouldn't be right for you unless you had the same heads. For the cubes I would probably start around 238* on the intake side, but it depends a lot on your goals and tolerance. Good luck with your build.

Pit man...

Check your PM's on Tech (I responded....) and call me for a sure fire recipe. I think Ive got a pretty good handle on how to make big power with our heads and 383 inches of displacement. You just need to fund the project....I will provide the parts list

AFR's number is (661)257-8124 and my extension is 109

In the meantime read the thread Rick (switchbarrel) has tried pointing you towards a few times in this thread. Extensive testing and parts swapping on a pump gas 383 with our cylinder heads.

Thanks Tony.
I replied to your PM. Would like you and Tracy @ Rev-Extreme to discuss my cam\head package for my 383. He has my Z right now, engine out waiting on my ok to build.

Hey Rick,
See it..ha, I can't wait to see the tree and some new 1.4 sixty foot's. I am going crazy without my car. I need a cardboard vette backend to prop up so when I open the garage door I can see it sitting there.
Tracy at Rev-Extreme put me a good package together..it should find it's own place on the Zo6 fast list but I won't be changing times on the internal\external list anymore.
