Default Drivers Side Door Won't Lock/Unlock

Worked this morning. Went to school and went to open the door and couldn't get it to unlock. The passenger side unlocked. I had to do a very embarrassing thing and get in my passenger side and unlock my door :o . When I try to lock/unlock the door, the door lock does not move. But it does click. Any body had any problems like this anything I should know about before I have to tear my door apart?

Thanks,
Vince

Do your power Locks unlock the door?

I had a similar problem. It turns out you can get a good look at the locking rods by taking off the door handle bezel instead of taking off the door panel.

It is really easy and only requires a screwdriver.

Just pull on the door handle like you are opening the door, put a screwdriver in the now evident top slot and push down. Do the same to the now evident bottom slot and the bezel comes off.

I can only manually unlock the driver's side door. Non of the power options will work. What should I look for with the unlock solenoid?

If more than one power option in your door does not work, your ground might be bad. I believe the ground wire that goes bad is in the black rubber accordian that connects the car to the door. Do a search for specific pictures on what can go wrong. I think you want to shake those wire harness and see if it works.

You'll want to do this for both door since one bad side can affect the other door. What I did was buy some wire insulator (from a can at Walmart) and put that stuffs over the exposed ground wire.

Unfortunately that didn't work so I took my doors apart, replaced 2 relays from the door lock/unlock module, now everything works fine.

A buddy of mine actually did the soldering and de-soldering of the relays. Took about 1/2 for each side of the door. I did both doors even though the passenger side was fine.

Apparently, the relays get worn over time and won't lock when you want them to. I bought five relays for about $7.

Lol, great. I'll play with it really soon here. I don't want to be leaving my doors unlocked and I don't want to look stupid climbing in the passenger side door.

You could still use the key, until you fix it.
