Maybe, do you by chance use an oiled cloth air filter (like a K&N) ? Isee you do, as you have a VARARAM INTAKE If so, get some MAF sensor cleaner and clean your MAF sensor.

But if the MAF sensor displays readings that are "outside" normal, it will set codes.

No Oil On It Its A Dry Filter. Never Had An Issue In 2 Yrs With Varaam System. With The Maf Disconnected It Runs Awesome But Shifted Hard And Wastes A Hell Lot Of Gas
When you disconnected your MAF sensor it should have thrown a code. When it throws this code, the computer sets a "safe" (i.e. rich) fuel mixture, hence the excessive fuel use.
Do you have a C5 buddy that you can switch MAF Sensor with?
Whoa, just saw "eratic and it will come and go". Needless to say these are the hardest problems to find. Cycle and clean the connector, a lot of times they are the problem.
