parking brake adjustment

There are two adjustments for the parking brake. One is supposed to be automatic, it is part of the parking brake handle, and is supposed to adjust for slack in the cable from the handle to the actual rear drum shoes. The other is an adjustment for wear in the brake shoes in the parking brake. It requires removing the rear calipers to make the adjustment.

I'd check the parking brake handle first, as that is somewhat easier to do. If that doesn't fix it, you'll have to go into the rear brakes.

there is a slot for adjusting the rear drums, just like almost any drum brake setup. You need to tighten both rear adjuster a few clicks.
The handle adjustment (jerking it up several times) simply evens the slack from side to side....it doesn't actually tighten the shoes.
If there is a chance your car has been driven much with the brake engaged, you may need to pull the rear rotors and install new shoes.
