Default C6 wheels on a C5?

I know I have read about this before but I couldn't find the info I was looking for this morning. How well do OEM C6 wheels fit onto a C5?

I know the C6 wheels are 1" larger diameter but I seem to remember the offsets were different, especially on the rear.

Will they fit, any issues with this set-up and is there a work around such as spacers? Thanks.

from what i have read some bolt them up and have no issues and others needed to run a spacer in the rear to avoid rubbing on the inside. the offsets are different on the c6's so you may need to run a spacer on the rear. i had c6 wheels in c5 offsets and loved them.

Default C6 wheels on a C5

Miaugi,
I had the same question. Let's look at the wheels and their offsets:

C5

Front 17x8.5" 56 mm offset 6.95" backspacing
Rear 18x9.5" 63 mm offset 7.75" backspacing

C6
Front 18x8.5" 56 mm offset 6.95" backspacing
Rear 19x10" 79 mm offset 8.6" backspacing

Therefore, for a stock OEM C6 wheel (the best) a C5 will need a 3/4" to 1" adapter.

She's like CPR railway track. Been laid right across the country.

Yeah, why not just order them with C-5 offsets? I did just like above except I went with 17's and 18's because my tires were so nice.

Did you use the 06Z06 wheels? If so what brand/Mfg-who did you get them from?

you need .25 inch spacers for the rears. you can have them made by ccw for 40 bux

3/4 inch to 1" spacer is way to big. You would be required to use a wheel adapter that comes with their own studs for that size.

If you are going to remain on the stock stud then you can get away with .25 inch spacer and still have enough threads to mount the rim.

replicas are not c6 offsets they are c5 offsets

If you take OEM c6 rims you will need .25 inch spacer on the rear if you are comfortable with spacers.

Oem c6 rims are only chrome on the face of the star. After market reproductions will be chrome inside the dish as well however a couple pounds heavier.

Miaugi,
First, I would not recommend a spacer. Either use an adapter or purchase heavier knock-offs with C-5 offsets. If the wheels have a 16 mm higher offset, with a 12.7 mm wider wheel, a 6.35 mm spacer will still have that sucked in look at the rear. There are members here that have purchased OEM C6 wheels and used a 1" adapter. Let me know and I will send you photos. Cheers,

Glen
