I am looking into nitrous, but am a virgin to it. What are the mains things I need to worry about the kits out there? What do I need to look for in a kit? Thanks for your imput....positive or negative.
Most *new* kits out there will have everything you need to run the shot you want, thats about it. There are accessories that would include a bottle heater, purge, window switch or mini progressive controller, guages, fuel pressure safety switch, etc. The key to nitrous is that it is as safe as you want to make it.
Not a big fan of Nitrous for a street car. Its a pain in the *** sometimes and gets costly. I would recommend doing some engine work so the power is there all the time. I cant tell you how many people get so tired of pulling the bottle in and out of the car they eventually stop using it. Doing a N2O kit properly with some bells and whistles and safety features can become pretty close to a cam only price.. Feel free to call us if you have any questions at all.

There's nothing wrong with N2O. I've ran it on two of my Vettes now. Filling the bottle does suck but for the money and power, it's hard to beat. As long as you're safe about it, you'll be fine. the must haves for me are bottle heater, WOT switch, windown switch. You could do without the purge but I have one. Good luck!

Nitrous works great if you are just drag racing. I would suggest you do not buy some cheap ebay kit. I have seen one a friend bought and it was incompleted on the fittings and lines needed. I would recommend a nice kit from someone like Nitrous Outlet, NX, or other name brand place. Nitrous can safely be run on the car you just need to make sure it is tuned.
If you are going to run a dry shot you will have to have the top end of the tune related to the MAF reading pull out some timing. With a dry kit you will only have one solenoid and have to use the fuel injectors in the car to add the fuel. It may require an injector swap if the current ones you have are too small. Additionally with a dry kit you will have to place it before the MAF as well.
If you want a wet kit instead you will have two solenoid to install and also have to tap your fuel system to feed the fuel solenoid (common location is the schrader valve on the fuel rail). With a wet shot you can place it almost anywhere from the intake piping, spray bar in the manifold, or a direct port kit. The only down side to a wet I see is you will need a separate nitrous tune if you have a strong NA engine.
The other stuff you can add to the system is more of a convience items. Things like a remote opener if you do not want to reach back and turn the handle. Bottle heaters are nice if you do not want to remove the bottle to heat it up, plus they help maintain a decent bottle pressure through the run. You could add a purge as well to make sure to get a 100% nitrous hit and there is no air in the lines.

I am guessing you are stock.I have heard from several people that the ls1 stock block and internals can handle up to a 150 dry shot without a problem. You also need to get a dry shot, not a wet shot.
2 things you need to make sure you get is a window mechanism and a switch.I would never think about getting a so called "button' to press to active. You would have to be an idiot to do so.

for a nitrous newbie I would reccomend you head over to LS1tech and read up on thier nitrous section. Lots to learn. Very easy to make a costly mistake with nitrous.
One of the concerns for street cars on nitrous has always been the compromise in your motor tune, having to run richer, with less timing, so your safe when you spray. Or, having 2 seperate tunes, one for nitrous, and one for Motor.
Using EFI Lives very powerful Custom Operating system number 5, this is a thing of the past. This OS allows us to set the car up with 2 tunes in one, so you can have a max effort motor tune with proper N/A A/F ratio's and timing, and at the flip of a switch the custom OS will add a desired amount of fuel that we pre-set, and pull the desired amount of timing so you are completely safe to spray
