Default LS(X) Throttle Bodies

I've been considering porting and polishing the LS6 throttle body on my 2002 Z06. To simplify and shorten the process, and ensure that I don't screw anything up on my own workbench, I had resolved to retain Mark Shaner do the work, and to save time simply swap mine out for one that he already has in his pipeline.

Before cutting the deal with Mark, however, I did some homework and discovered that the apparent inside diameters (IDs) of the LS1 and LS6 TBs are 75 and 80 mm, respectively, and that they have different GM part numbers. Even more confusing, I have archived several FS posts from this and the Z06 Forum that refer to the ID universally as "78 mm" and imply that the LS1 and LS6 TBs are actually the same.

I intend to work around my confusion by R&Ring my own TB and sending it off to Mark for his magic trick, considering I'm not driving it daily during the winter, but how about setting me straight on this issue ... are the LS1 and LS6 TBs really different, and what is the correct reference to their size(s) (75 mm, 78 mm and/or 80 mm)?

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

I have bought many off of ebay and ported them and have never came across any that wasn't a 75mm. I personally don't think the Z06 is any bigger. The one I have on mine right now is from a Z06 and it takes the exact same blade as my stock one did

They are the same size. I measured my throttle plate and it was 78mm, and the opening in front of the throtle blade is 75mm. My friend has a 2002 Z06 and his measured 78mm and 75mm too. Also they looked identical.

Well that is good to know. I have wondered this very same question recently.

The LS2 is 90mm though, correct?
