My dash lights hyperflash when I hit the brakes, but when I turn the lights on they don't but the turn signal lights on the dash are on and both flash when I use either turn signal. I replaced two front blubs and
the hazzard switch.
Still does it. I do have corrosion under the battery and at this time I am cleaning it up and the grounds because of different messages that
are coming up. ( service vehicle, traction control, etc...) Will this
make the turn signals go crazy too?
Yes, bad grounds will do all sorts of strange things with any electical component. If you clean the grounds and get rid of the corrosion in the battery tray I'd bet most of your problems will be solved.....Keep an eye on the battery also, normally they only corrode for an internal reason.
Well I found alot of corrosion and two vaccum lines broke. One goes into the wiring harness but the other was just sticking up with nothing I can find to connect it too. ANy ideas?
I think maybe has to do with the air condition system. You might take a look at the ecu computer below the battery tray also. If you got acid in there it can be another source of problems
Sounds like it could be the multi-function switch. It is located at the base of the turn signal lever (i believe). It controls most of the lights so it is definitely worth looking into. I actually had a very similar thing happen to my '99. The brake lights wouldn't work and the dash lights would get bright when I hit the brake pedal. Mine turned out to be a grounded wire from a sad euro tail install, but when I talked to the dealer mechanic he said my light situation was a classic sign of a failing multi-function switch. Granted mine didn't turn out to be the problem, but the dash lights, brake lights, turn signals and head lights are all tied into the same switch. Do a search for the multi-function switch and you will get some good info I think.
