Default Window problem...

Hey Guys,

My drivers side window will not lower anymore. It used to make this horrible "grinding" sound before and would jam every so often. Well now it drops about 1/2 an inch and gets stuck. It is driving me nuts. Any advice? I assume I need to take my drivers door panel off and get dirty which is cool.

The only way to fix it is to remove the door panel and replace the window regulator assembly. My guess is that if was making noise, the cables are probably coming apart. Most windows fail because the motor just quits before the drive cables actually fail, but sounds like you have gotten a lot of use out of yours.
A new assembly is easy to replace, but will cost $300 to $400 from GM. You can find used ones, but could be spending time replacing it and it will not last long. I would suggest finding the best price you can on a new unit.
Part numbers are 10344131(left)& 10344132(right)
GMPP paid for both of mine, but I did the installations myself.

You need to buy a new motor / regulator unit. I think it is about $250. Install is pretty easy.

Here are some links for some info:
