Just installed a CLB and now my speedometer lights only work on ACC but go off whenn I turn key one more notch to run or start thr car. Coincidence or did I mess something up?
Do you mean at night, they only light up till you start the car then go out? Are we talking about background illumination or something else? Do they turn on with the headlamp stalk switch or the twilight sentinel?

Yes, speedometer backround lighting. So you can see the speedo, gauges and tach at night and see it better during the day. they come on when open the door and stay on for 15 secs. when you close it Oru turn the key to two o'clock and everything else powers up. Color warning lights still work. I had the knee protector (lower dash) off putting in a CLB, so quess I could of hit a wire putting it back on? They actually come on when you open the door. Car is new to me w/no owners manual. Could this be some option setting. Interior lights stay on a full minute! What is "twilight sentinal"?
I don't remember ever seeing my '99's dash lights during the day although it doesn't mean they won't do it. It is a feature on my '07 that they will show up nice and bright. The sentinel, if equipped in your car, there is a light sensor on top of the dash that will determine how much ambient light outside the car is present. It will automatically turn on the external lights when it gets dark enough and turn them off when its light enough. The option is configurable in the DIC.
As for working under the knee bolster, sure its possible that you disconnected something accidently. I would suggest that you check in there again to make sure that you didn't have any "oops" and etc. I don't remember if the CLB could possibly be connected to other connectors or not but typically that wouldn't happen with dissimilar connectors.
Check the brightness control on the left cluster controller. Do you have a HUD? The brightness dimmer for the HUD is not the same as the background dimmer right below it.
Thanks for the owner's manual! You know I bought a service manual off another member and it came in a DVD+R format that my ancient computer won't open. I expecting a .pdf file.
I will remove the knee bolster and recheck things under there.
Actually I did not buy a service manual on disk. I did buy the printed manuals however which are lost in the garage somewhere since my last move. I also bought the printed manuals for my '07 which are right here, but of no use in this case.
Use the Owner's Manual in PDF first to look through your options vs equipment on your car and see if there is anything there.
Removed knee bolster again and found no obvious problems there. It's weird that the dash lights come on when you open the door but go off when you start the car. Kinda in sync with the interior lights. Could this be normal? I did just get the C5. They will work if you turn parking or headlights on. I'll read the manual and see if there is a special fuse for that. Maybe I'll call COH and see if they have expierenced this before.
