Default were does this connect to

The wiring that leads to the MAP sensor also has a second connector that s purple what does it go back to. I was held up a week on parts and now my memory has failed along with my "put it back together and it will reveal itself method " has failed me. any help would be obviously appreciated. by the way the sensor is almost identical to the map sensor but black w/a purple boot.

I doubt these will help you much since I don;t see the second plug in them, but I thought they might refresh your memory. My car is still apart but I can take a closer look tomorrow if you haven't figured it out.

Could it be for the A.I.R. system?

I don’t know if we have the same wiring…I think that 97 is different than the 02 wiring. I do not see the second branch from the map sensor I need to get a picture but I don’t want to walk all the way to the garage as is it too cold right now. The wire seems to want to go naturally to the passenger side but nothing is over there, unless I connects to something behind the intake. By the way I can barley get my hand in the space were you have that camera what do you have the 007 pen camera? I can barely see back there . thanks for the help

No, no pen camera. If you look closely at the first pic, you can see the rear cyl intake port on the head. I was in the process of removing the intake so it was loose and pulled forward so I could get a shot of how to hook everything back up. Your original question is exactly why I did it

If my memory serves me right there are only two things that have electrical connectors back there. Both at the rear of the intake manifold between the heads. The oil pressure sensor towards the driver's side and the MAP sensor towards the passenger side on the intake manifold. There's a small vacuum tube back there as well.

YEP AND BOTH ARE HOOKED UP BUT THERE IS A SENSOR THAT IS ON THE SAME (BRANCH,LINE,LIMB) AS THE MAP SENSOR ON MINE AND CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WERE IT GOES.
IF I WAS TO HOOK THE BATTERY UP IT WOULD THROW A CODE….WONDER IF THAT IS MY NEXT STEP?
sorry had caps lock on will not retype

I did the same this when I pulled a Quad 4 from my wife's old car. I knew the wire would only reach so far and I literally stretched it out and started going in circles, bringing it in little by little.

what color are the wires to the connector and how many pins?

Probably the inline connector for the knock sensor, or the camshaft position sensor. Very well depicted in your service manual.

(1) Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) Sensor
(2) Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor
(3) Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor
(4) Ground #G107
(5) Connector #C112 - Inline between Engine Harness and Knock Sensor Jumper Harness

We need to know the wire colors and the amount of pins coming off the connector.

And of course could use a pic of the loose connector

It can't be too far away, I'm thinking it might go to the fan motor for the AC and Heater blower or perhaps one of the AC sensors. Just a thought!

Let us know as soon as you are able too!

Thanks,Matt

I think that's for the knock sensors, the connector is usually clipped to the fuel rail stop plate on the drivers side toward the firewall. The stop plate bolts down when you install the manifold with the manifold bolts.

Only thing back there that I can think of is the oil pressure switch.
