Just wondering if anyone uses or has any info on using this additive along with Mobil 1? I only drive my car on weekends and sometimes maybe every other weekend. I feel like it's probably bad to only start the car and that most of the lubrication has drained into the pan.
Mobil 1 is good oil, I would not put any additives in. I don't drive mine much either, not during winter at least. Make sure to drive it at least once every two weeks for an hour at one go, that will get things up to temp long enough to do some good. Other than that you shouldn't have to worry too much. If you are really worried you could try an oil pre-pressurisation system, it might help with startups a bit.
If you are concerned about a dry start push the gas pedal to the floor before you turn the key on. It will crank the engine circulating oil BUT the car will not start.

I just talked with Patrick at VaraRam Industries today, and he highly recommended the stuff. He said at first you may be skeptical, and think it's snake oil, but it really does what it's supposed to do. GM Vehicles (LS Based) have a lot of noisy valve trains - and some (like Silverado's) often get a lifter tick (especially after a cold start) and this stuff will supposedly remedy a lot of the valve train noise, by making sure at least some Oil stays where it's supposed to...
Perhaps someone from VaraRam Industries will care to chime in with more details, but I wouldn't completely toss it aside as a Snake Oil

I use it and all that he said is true. I highly recommend it.
No more valve train noise when first start the engine.
I didn't know about the gas pedal before starting, good tip.

My Mechanic said I should give it a try for my next oil change! He has seen the magic in many GM vehicles over the years. Sticky/noisy lifters.

I don't use additives. I recall reading something about oil additives, and Lucas specifically about a year ago..........seem to recall that the Lucas product contributed to a lot of foaming / air bubbles, which is not a good thing.

Yep, straight from the site of oil gods, Bob is the Oil Guy. But this was a test on gears so hard to tell.
I have read the lucas stuff actually traps air in the oil more than normal oil does, you can even see it trap the air on the displays at autoparts stores, ill pass.

I just mix 2 quart of full syn diesel motor oil with every oil change. It contains more zinc and helps protect the motor bettter since diesels run hotter. I use 2qts Catrol Syn 10-40 diesel oil with 4qts of 10-30 Royal Purple.
Mobil 1,world class motor oil does not need any "help"Pre-pressure oil system if you're worried (EG Moroso Accu-Sump) Buy it once.Valve train noise not from oil used but most likely from aggressive valve lift made possible with the widespread use of roller cams.Back in the day valve ticks/taps were usually from varnish/sludge from combo of fossil based oil and infrequent oil changes in which case specific additives worked exceptionally well (EG Mystery Marvel oil,Bardal) and were not used regularly(wouldn't hurt) but not necessary Just make sure the oil used has the starburst symbol on container from American Petroleum Institute And use correct weight. If you use a heavier grade sometimes it will use oil a some use low tension oil rings ('03 Z/06 does)Your particular use dictates time sensitive oil changes as opposed to mileage dictated.Additive probablly won't hurt Lucas reputable company but do you need it?

Zinc needed f/cars w/flat tappet cams esp. solid w/lots lift zinc good f/scuff resistance like on cams. Roller cam cars do not need zinc but it wont hurt car.no other area in engine has scuff wear; piston, rings just fine w/syn.oil
"Your Owner's Manual says not to use additives. I'd say that's your authoritative source" Yeah, if you want to be buying a replacement engine sooner, as GM wants you to!
I use the heaviest weight Mobil One, with the Lucas conditioner, and half a bottle of Z-Max. I learned all this stuff from professional engine builders. My friend that is an exGM quality control engineer also uses Lucas and the thickest Mobil One in his C4 and his Chevy PU and his Chevy Tahoe...agrees with the professional engine builders...Thin oils help GM meet higher millage for CAFE ratings with the government, and also reduce engine life. They don't care, it helps sell more parts!

I believe it works; but the question is... does your application need it?
If one isn't running at the dragstrip weekly - or running a blower and putting their foot in it often, you don't need this type of added protection... your engine won't appreciate it.
