Default 402 LS2 performance numbers

Im about to get started on building a 402 stroker ls2. Just wondering, anyone out there with 402 setups? What cam and heads are you running and what numbers are you seeing(hp, trq, 1/4 times)?
Any pix? Always love some engine ****.

The Z I purchased in December has a 402 in it with ported ETP LS7 style heads, LS7 intake, and a rather large Cartek cam (242/252 114LSA) and American Racing long tube headers through the stock Ti's. The dyno sheet that came with car shows 538RWHP and 489RWTQ. HP climbs steady all the way to 6500rpm, torque is about 440ft-lbs at 3000rpm and peaks at around 5200rpm, torque is above 425ft-lbs from 2500rpm all the way to 6500rpm. Amazing flat torque curve

Car is getting a different cat-back and some other small bits and pieces and will be retuned sometime in March. I have not driven the car much at all (stupid winter weather), but the few times I did drive it, it was very streetable and of course has more power than the tires can cope with. Sure is fun and I cant wait to get her out this Spring to stretch her legs!

Enjoy your 402 build!

Wow! Those are awesome numbers. Im keeping the stock tranny till it gives so for now the cam wont be as wild as yours, maybe 228/235 112 advanced 4degrees. Should still sound mean. Let us know what 1/4mi times you run if you ever do.
Enjoy your 402 build!

Here's a small cam "Gentleman's Cruiser". 380RWT at 2200rpm is just nuts. The tuner said the only way to get better throttle response is with a blower. The tip in at 2k or better justs roasts the rear tires. Not bad for an N/A build that drives like stock.

Hey C5, here is a thread from me trying to make a decision on the right motor for my needs. Hope it has some useful info for you. The people from this forum really helped me out. Good luck and keep us updated. I ended up going with Tracy at Rev-Extreme. He is doing the build and swap for me. My cam actually is very very close to Sigforty in one of the replies.

I did a 408 in my car. The reason I went with a 408 is it does not take the extra wiring the ls2 block does. The extra stuff comes up to about 600.00 if I remember correctly. The 80lbs savings did not seem worth the money to me.

The bottom end is from HKE in Houston, heads are trickflow 225's and the cam is 244/248 612/615 on a 112. I still need a fast 90 mm intake though. It made 478 rwhpand 441 rwtrq on a ls6 intake. With a 90mm intake its good for 500+rwhp which was my goal. The compression is only at 10.3. The plan was to put a 200 shot of nitrous on the car after I get the intake. Now I am thinking of selling the car and buying an 08 ls3 z51.

Thats a big cam! Youd see more power with a higher compression. Im going about 11:1 and the 90mm tb will help it breath. Those LS3's are nice, good luck and happy shopping.

You are right about the more power from compression but it would be more stressful when on the nitrous. If I keep the car (it looks like I am) I will put a 90mm setup on it for sure. I already have a nitrous kit and the plate in it is for a 90mm setup. Just takes time and money. I have the time but not the money atm lol.
