I was wondering if I HAD to install a kit from lingenfelter, or if I could install a normal Walbro pump. Fuel pressure is dipping down to 20psi at WOT even with a new fuel filter.
I run the Racetronics kit. It come with the wiring harness all the way to the alternator and a few other things. It uses a Walbro 255 fuel pump. It keeps up with 510RWHP N/A just fine.
You cant just buy a $100 Walbro pump and slap it in there.. The Lingenfelter and Ractronix walbro pumps come as a new bucket assembly to specifically fit in the C5 gas tank...
On a C5 you can't run an external pump "inline", it has to run in paraell with the in tank pump to keep the in tank balance system working properly. If you put a pump in line it will suck the driver side tank empty leaving the passenger tank full of gas. The in tank jet pump system need fuel pressure to feed the venturi pump in the passenger tank to siphon gas from the passenger tank to the drivers tank...
no, inline the external would suck on the internal fuel pump line keeping the internal pump from making enough line pressure to feed the venturi system. Its been tried and it didn't work. You have to "T" in an externall pump so the both pumps are feeding the fuel line to the rail and the intake pump sees fuel pressure.
