Default Which head bolt set should I use?

Never tore a LS engine apart; I’m getting the parts together for a H/C change and don’t know which head bolt set to use. There are two to choose from. I'm installing 243 heads on a 99 LS1 block. Thanks

I would use ARP bolts at least and use the ones for 98-2003. There was a design change in the block starting in 2004. Plus you can reuse them.

134 dollars well spent. part no: 134-3609

My pockets aren't that deep.LOL I mean there are two GM sets. One set 20 long and 10 short and the other set 16 long, 4 med, and 10 short. Which one is the 97-03 set.

You need to see which set is installed in your engine. I just went through this with my 2004. The change was in Jan of 04 but you will not be sure till you see the bolts.
