I'm sure that it's not, but is the captive bolt on a side terminal battery cable replaceable (short of replacing the entire cable)? I have a 2003 and the previous owner rounded off the negative bolt pretty good. I got it off the old battery, but I would like to replace it if possible instead of using it on the new battery.
Obsoloutely, they sell the bolts at any auto store or even Wallmart. Make sure you don't get ones that are too long, they will bottom out before tighthening. You could use a washer under these, but corrosion could result.
Be prepared. All the ones I've ever seen sold that are close to the right length are a tad shorter than the stock ones and you may end up having to fight a bit to get it tightened down due to clearance of the rubber sheathing of the cable end.
How the heck could it have been rounded???
the CORRECT torque is 11ft-lbs...
The main reason side post terminals leak acid is people over torque then breaking the seal betweeen the lead insert and the moulded plastic case....

It didn't help that there was some corrosion on the neg terminal either. I've got my torque wrench all primed and ready for installing the new ones this weekend
