I have no problem starting in 1st or 2nd. V8's tend to do that.

Gassing it in 2nd?
Years ago, before overpowering my car with turbos I bought short sticky tires 25.3 dia..
Anyway, I know our cars with only modest mods can be a real challenge to get going. My car now gets 67mph (the new ZR1 gets 64 in first) with the above tires at end of 2nd so I tried pulling out in second, which is like being stopped on a steep hill.
96mph in third
138mph in fourth
It seemed to work O.K. has anyone tried anything like this?

If Iam understanding this post correctly...
If what your asking is to whether or not you can start your car off in 2nd....to answer this: YES...definitely...my stock 02 I have accidentally done this a few times....The old coming to a stop light and being on the phone at the same time and between forgetting or not being able to juggle the phone and make the shift quick enough....I have started out in 2nd just fine...its obviously gonna bog a bit...but mine never stalled or anything.

Replying to thread title...gassing it in 2nd? I never gas my car in 2nd. I always stop near the gas pump, put the car in neutral, pull the parking brake up, push the fuel door button, get out and pump the gas.
Ha...So in short - I gas it in neutral.
You can take off in 3rd if you like. Or you can allow cags to put you in 4th way to early too, if you have not bypassed that function...

Amusingly, and it was a pig to get moving, I started in 5th once. It was crying to stall lol. (Yes it was an accident and I was sleepy ;p )

Thanks Again Guys, yeah I've Witness Robert Judd just trashing his car through the gears and having the bills to prove it, so I'm just looking at wise solutions so I won't have to repurchase my car in parts! Sincerely!
