Can you guys think of any Gotcha's or maintenance I should do while I'm in there. After reading several threads I'm going to take the approach of unbolting the intake and sliding it forward.
Yes, do the relocate while you are in there so you won't have to bother repeating all your work again in a few more months. You'll need a few parts and probably have to wait until Summit sends them, but it's worth it to only do this once. I did it over 3 times until I did the relocate!
Here's some info to help:
The relocate sounds like a good idea, but I'm afraid of oil leaking and causing a fire...
I did the relocate w/ the steel braided line. Looks good over the past few months and no leaks. I recommend using some thread sealer of course on all fittings. See my posts as per above w/ links to all the step by step and parts
I didn't so the relocate because it is just something else to leak, and its not that hard to change it. You might want to think about the Z06 valley cover, relocates the pcv to the valley cover reducing the notorious oil consumption of the LS1! If you do not have an LS6 already!
Thanks for all your help guys. I only had enough beer to do the cutout method. I felt a little shame taking the easy way out but it worked out well. I went to autozone and purchased the American made sensor by Duralast. It's aluminum and looks like the OEM sensor. I used a rotozip to cut the fiberglass. When all done I put aluminum tape on the back and silicone caulked the top in black. Actually looks like it was there from factory. Took about two hours due to wrestling with hoses and making a run to purchase a 10 inch ratchet extension.
I just relocated mine to the side of the block so that you don't have to mess with fittings and worrying about it leaking. When I did mine I pulled the intake and did the LS6 as a "while I'm at it"
