C6Z06 shifter install how to adjust having problems ???
So I did the install a day after I bought my car (had tons of mods before the Z from the old car and new purchases) and noticed right away it was hell getting into 1-2 and reverse. To get into first from 3rd on I would have to push the shifter all the way to the pass side to "center" it up then I could force it in. I would not down shift and was using just my brakes. I was lost since I knew this was an elementary install. I took it all apart again and started poking around. With the shifter installed there are 3 Torx 25 or 30 bolts. 2 sit on the pass side and one is part of the neutral alignment pin. When I put the car in ANY gear it would stay there and drive but I could pull the shifter from side to side and not affect drivibility. Well after putting it in 5th with the car off, I pulled it towards me to see what was moving. I found that the center rod was directly replaced to it. I grabbed a socket and tightened it up good. Right away I noticed the shifter was very tight and all the gears were close. I thought for sure I was missing a few. Anyways, I started the car and was pleasantly surprised I could find reverse with little to no trouble. I then went to take my test drive and found myself automaticly shaking the shifter to center it. HAHA Well 1st was fine. At my next stop, I downshifted with NO issues and found 1st without centering. Car now shifts great and all seems perfect. So with that said when doing the install do a quick check on those torxs prior to putting the big rubber grommet back on. If this helps one person great. I know this might only make sense to me, but if you search, find this post and are having issues getting in gear pm me if this crap makes one sense.
