I had the older versions installed on my 97 a few years ago (I read somewhere on the forum they made adjustments to fitment since mine)- great headers! The installer did have to jack the engine up on each side to get them in though...they told me that these although great headers were the most difficult to install.

once installed I can honestly say that I loved every minute of them!

Good luck!

i installed mine with no issues, but I put them in with the heads off. Made it very easy. i did have to loosen the pass motor mount and lift the engine slightly to go between the starter and the AC line. i am also not able to line up the bracket that bolts up to the bell housing, but i haven't been able to loosen everything up to adjust it a bit.

What they both said
I'm not sure what "verson" they were, but they were the hardest headers I've ever installed (and I put them on nine different vettes including a big block C3. The SSautocrome for my wifes car were NOTHING to install next to these! That being said, they're just headers so it will only be agravating, not impossible.
I had to jack the engine, remove starter, remove oil filter along with all the top items (alternator etc) and wound up using a big . The passenger was fairly easy, the drivers were the hardest. If I were you, I would remove water temp sender in the front drivers side head, as they are easily broken
I don't mean to make you dread the install, becase some guys don't seem to have as much trouble. Maybe they're made in differnt jigs and one of the jigs is off Anyway expect to spend a few hours, and if they're easier, (like my vararam install turned out to be) then you wil feel great!
You're going to love the power increase either way!!

Mufflers are not an illegal change on cars in California UNLESS they exceed the maximum decibel level (even though the actual law reads like it is). Some cops in the past and even now will write tickets for changing catback exhaust but it doesn't hold up in court (personal experience several times on this). There is always some smog tech that will smog anything no matter whats been done to it or just register the car in a non smog check zip code (and there are many zip codes in California that still don't require a smog check ever unless car is sold).

Make sure the front O2 sensor wires don't end up dangling on the headers and burning up.
