Default Hud pinouts and cables

I'm adding a hud projector to my project, I have a Hud compatible cluster and the other components. The person I bought the projector from cut the cable connector off the wires. Right now there is only 8 black wires coming out of it. I also have a 8pin cable that came from another car that plugs into the top of the cluster but the other end connector is not the same as the projector end. I don't mind splicing the 8 wires but what's pin 1 on the projector and pin 1 on the cluster. I have the schematic diagram but its wire color coded. Also, just want to make sure these wires go directly from the projector to the cluster top connection. From what I read in here yes?

The picture shows the black wires in the top left corner

Default Hud pinouts

I found that page too which led me to the question. What I'm wondering is in his picture see the black wires coming out of the projector. Is that supposed to go to the 8 pin connector on cluster. He describes a 12 pin connector at the cluster? I received mine with 8 cut wires coming out of my projector. From someone else I got a wire connector that fits into the top of the cluster but the other end doesn't mate to the projector. If I open the projector the connector in there is not the same...

There are two connections between the IPC and the HUD.

One connection is a group of 8 black wires that come from the HUD and attach to the back of the HUD control switch (the switch that has the PAGE button, slider, and UP/DOWN control). Why some moron would cut those ... who knows ......

The other connection is the one that I gave you in the previous post .... this is a 12 wire (one wire unused) bundle that carries the "data" for the HUD (speedo, tach, oil pressure .... etc.) data. This connection comes from the top of the IPC to the HUD.

Try this link and see if it helps further .....

Default adding a hud to a non hud

I think maybe that's reversed the connector at the top of the cluster is a 8 pin connector supposed to go to the hud projector? The 12 pin goes from hud s/w to the cluster side connector 12 pin. I got the hud s/w mounted and 12 to 12 pin cable is connected correctly?

My problem is the 8 pin cable to the projector. Maybe these pics will help.

Non Hud Switch

Hud Switch with part number

Hud Cables

Switch install i only removed these 3 screws 2 at the sw one on the bezel.

Hud switch installed with 12 pin cable to the side of the cluster

Top cluster connector to projector

Here's where i need to know what wires go to what. The connector inside the projector was different then the end of the cable I have.

The wiring harness you are showing does not go where you have it plugged in. However, if the connector fits snugly in the socket, you may be able to splice the rest of the wires in...they go in order, but you'll have to try left/right to see which order works...

Default Hud wires

Are you able to post any pics of the cable to the projector with a close up of the pins? If you look at the pins as labeled in this pic maybe someone can tell me which goes to what. As 'PaceThis' says my cable pictured on the cluster is not the right cable so I don't mind splicing that one to the black ones just need to know which wire goes where, don't want to fry anything.
