You're going to hate me for this question.
I understand that you have to do a 'relearn' after the install by disconnecting the battery. If I disconnect the battery won't this screw up my radio security? If so, where would I get my radio security codes?
I would appreciate any advice. Sorry I'm a fool! :D
Keep asking ones like that, and maybe the yahoo's in OT might quit asking about farts
Well...probably not :nonod:
Anyway-- carry on  :D
Thanks for the full explination JW!
Mark- Have you ever run an R1 heads up with your ZX9? Just wondering how close the two are. Thanks
Corvette PCM Reset
Directly after installing any type of any modification, it is necessary to reset the computer with the following steps for a standard shift transmission:
1. Insert key into ignition and turn to the "ON" position, but DO NOT START THE ENGINE.
2. Open the fuse box cover under the hood (not the one under the dash), and remove the two 10amp fuses from position numbers 16 (Powertrain Control Module A) and 23 (Powertrain Control Module B). There is a diagram of fuse locations under the cover of the fuse box. Make sure you have the cover oriented to the correct fuse locations.
Note. Your DIC will now display "check" messages for ABS, etc... Do not worry. This is normal.
3. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position.
4. Re-insert both 10amp fuses for positions 16 & 23.
5. Start the engine, and allow engine coolant temperature to reach a minimum of 176ºF. Allow engine to run at this minimum temperature for at least 5 minutes.
6. After a minimum of 5 minutes, at 176ºF, shut down engine and let rest for a minimum of 30 seconds.
7. Restart engine - check for DIC error codes (there should be none).
8. Drive car for a minimum of 30 miles at varying RPM settings and speeds (Interpret this to mean drive it hard.) PCM will now re-learn and adjust for the new airflow and air temperature at the intake.
If error codes persist, repeat steps 1-7. Make sure fuses are properly inserted before repeating steps.
Do not void the sequence outlined above. If you do, restart sequence from scratch.
These steps combine everything that has been learned from various sources for changes made to the MAF and air intake. Steps 1-4 are also necessary if you ever disconnect your battery or, lose power for any reason.
The idle relearn is a little different for the A4 vs the 6 speed. You must let the car warm up to 176º, then let it idle in Drive, with air ON and then OFF, for 5 minutes each, and Neutral, with the air on and then off for 5 minutes each. Following this sequence, turn the car off for about 30 seconds.

If you do disconnect the battery and don't have the radio security code, you'll have to visit your nearest Chevrolet dealer to get it.....(I don't think they'll give it to you over the phone!!).

Also, I've disconnected the battery on a couple of C5's, and when hooked back up, everything worked fine.

I haven't got my ZX9 any more and I have never run an R1 on it. Shame really - it would have been fun.
Thanks to all who replied for their advice.
Mark :yesnod:
I installed mine without disconnecting the battery; tore the labels off my mattresses too :D
What a rebel  :D

when I installed mine I didn't disconnect battery and no re-learn.
like everybody else said...........plug and play!

PCM will learn on its own the same way as disconnecting.
At most you would need to do is an idle relearn procedure which does not involve resetting the PCM.
