Issue with Pass side rear axle boot cut, how to replace
Found some white grease on the inner pass rear wheel and A arm. Dealer says its a cut in the boot, which could be since I did my shocks last summer but I was pretty careful (guess not careful enough, or the dealer is full of it).
So, how hard is it for a backyard mechanic to replace one of these? Any info, including details like part numbers etc is always welcome.
Check out how much the whole axle half shaft is, its pretty cheap like $75 at NAPA. Either way you have to remove the wheel bearing and its a good size job... Once you have the wheel bearing off the axel half shaft just slides out, no special tools required.

No you dont have to remove the wheel bearing I just did my CV axle in about 30 mins, its 6 bolts plus the cv axle nut (which is a 33mm by the way), I had to take it back out yesterday cause I got the O'reily reman. ($65) and its causing the diff to leak fluid pass the output shaft seal. They are easy to get out. Remove the upper control arm bolts (2), shock bolts (2), E Brake bolts on the spindle (2) and then the CV axle nut, it will then come right out.
EDIT- you want to get the CV axle nut loose (apply e brake) before removing all the other stuff.
