So I left my Vette outside of my house one night and the window was shattered and my complete stereo was stolen. I had:
-Pioneer 9800BT
-2 10" Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2 in a Subthump box
-Rockford Fosgate 1001bd sub amp
-Rockford Fosgate Digital Capacitor
My insurance is covering it all luckily so I am in the market for a new stereo system. I havn't looked at stereo stuff in a while, so I am not sure what is good now. I think I am going to get the Pioneer Z4 navigation head unit. (I wanted double-din, but custom dash is expensive)
I am looking for suggestions on a sub/amp package similar to what I had. How about Subthump box and 1 10W7?
well u can go DD with out getting a custom dash and leave the stuff in the same spot with some trimming but it will not as pretty as a nice custom dash.
thats what i did till i wanna start molding my dash, and i didnt wanna drop the hvac.

I've been looking into this and it seems the main problem in making it look right is not so much the height as it is the width ! It seems the DD units are 7 inches wide whereas the C5 dash opening is nearly 8 inches wide.
It's almost as if GM was thinking "let's see now, how can we make it *really* difficult for these guys to aftermarket anything in this space ? OK, we'll make it a strange height *and* strange width..yeah, that's the ticket !"
Do you have a photo of your system in place ?
