Well most of you guys said it should take 45 minutes. You were wrong!!! It took me 54 on a lift, and that included finally swapping around my rear tires, and using hand tools for all the bolts.
The sound is pretty good too, not as loud as I had hoped but I am sure w/ some miles they will get a little louder. The burble on decel is pretty sweet and not at all annoying. They are rather mellow when cruising, and make the car sound really nice at idle, but stab the loud pedal and that is where the fun is. I kept wanting to drive fast just so I could hear how she sounds. Wind out first gear and I am already breaking the speed limit, so I will just have t enjoy cruising for now.
Thanks RG for the great deal, and everyone that replied to my time of install post.
Congrats. I have them on my MY Corvette and love them. They will not get louder, can't get louder. Exhaust does not go through any muffling device, so the sound can't change. Carbon buildup inside the pipes could actually tone them down slightly, but likely not enough to notice.
What looks like a muffler is not. There are two pipes that branch off to the side, but they are dead end pipes. They are just there to set up a chamber to cancel out some of the resonance by absorbing some of the frequencies created by the velocity of the exhaust.
The good news to this is that there is no muffling material to deteriorate, and the pipes are stainless. So they will last forever!
Ben, you ought to drive up I-40 to our dyno day in clayton this saturday so we can get a better look at them. and maybe hear them too. :yesnod:  ..... Brad
I would love to, but I have my units Christmas party going this Saturday and probably won't get out of there till after 1600(4:00)
I think the forces that be are trying to keep me away from Raleigh, the last dyno day on the 3rd of Nov. was the day of my Marine Corps Ball.
Eventually I will get up there.
I want to dyno again now that I have the Vortex and the PRT's.
I hammered down on her last night on my way to Lowes, and I think there is a noticeable gain here. I hit second hard and the tires didn't chirp they spun. Then I hit third and the car barked them pretty good and got a little sideways. This car is too much fun. I think it still needs to be a little louder though.
Looks like the toss-up might be between TPIS LT's or the Crome Z06 wheels......Hmmmm

I do think the pre 01's are a little louder. I assume our pre-cats tame the sound down a little. I had the same thoughts on my PRT's. They seem a little too quiet now. I think it's mostly me getting used to them. My only concern with headers or other measures to make them louder would be resonance. Having said that, rschiltz has them with TPIS long tubes and does not have a resonance problem.
I have them on my '01 vert. They have a strong resonance in 6th at 14-1600 rpm range when accelerating. I had a different set of PRTs on my previous '00 coupe, (also a 6 spd). There was no (zero) resonance! I think the resonance issue has more to do with auto vs. stick and coupe vs. vert vs. hardtop body style.
No matter I love the sound with the top down when I nail it! Best aftermarket sound I have heard on a C5.
