i've had the car about 3.5 weeks now, 98 A4 with 113K
I was sort of expecting to find a handful of codes but to my surprise only 2 came up
U1160 H
C2120 H C
After looking up 2120 that made complete sense- TPMS sensors not found. The wheels don't appear to have sensors installed- just regular ole rubber valve stems.
1160 seems to be Loss of Communications with LDCM (Left Door Control Module). Only problem on the door I've noticed since buying the car is the door lock button doesn't work unless you press it JUST RIGHT, in JUST THE RIGHT SPOT. Otherwise all other door controls work. And now that I have bought a new remote from Gene I don't need that lock button anyway!!
I am quite happly surprised to not have anything else
Loss of communication...H means its a Historical code and the issue has not been resolved in the last 50 ignition cycles.... These cars really don't like the Window valet plugged into that diagnostic port.
Found this out at my Dealers after they spent many hours changing out the PCM.

Maui is wonderful sadly I leave Mar 13th...16 days better than 7
Judging from your pic, you have later model thin spokes, which means your '98 sensors would not fit the wheels. Whoever put the wheels on probably just left them out . The correct sensors for those wheels won't work with your car. There is no way to turn off the TPM system on the pre 2000 cars. There is an adapter out there for using the "old" style sensor in the new wheels, that might be an option if you want the TPMs.

98 sensors will fit the later wheels.....you just have to stick with the 97-00 tps for his system to work....theres plenty of guys that had the wagon wheels 97-99 that upgraded to the newer five spoke and use there sensors.

Your right, I remember now. My '99 had aftermarket wheels (thin spoke wanna be's) and I had hell with sensors, ended up going the epoxy route.
