Default Service Ride Control - Need Help!!!!!

I am at my wits end and hoping someone can rescue me ..

98-coupe, MN6, F45 shocks. The car complained of bad shocks so I replaced the F45 shocks with Bilstein shocks and F45 RTD simulator plugs as shown in the link below. I did go the "F45 delete using TechII" route but that did not work either so I got the simulator plugs ..

http://www.casperselectronics.com/mm...ry_Code=CORVC4

My local Chevy stealership did the repair. After $747 less in my pocket I still get

SHOCKS INOPERATIVE/SERVICE RIDE CONTROL/SERVICE VEHICLE SOON

Codes from the DIC

TCS - NO COMM.
RTD - NO COMM.
B0432 H C
HVAC - NO COMM.

The ABS and TCS lights are on and stay on even when I drive. I have done the following so far:

1. disconnected & connected battery -ve terminal, same problem
2. read the following instructions to attach the RTD plugs over and over again

http://www.installationinstructions.com/109066.pdf

and wondering if the tech did the right thing or not. I tried taking photos of the hookup but since I do not have a jack :o (I know shame on me) I could barely manage the following (Right Rear wheel). The first photo shows where he disconnected and the second shows the two RTD plugs.

I am really stumped and do not know where to go with this. I do have a real tight ride now and the car does not scrap when pulling out of the driveway, a sign that the shocks were really bad, but I have to drive around with no A/C, ABS or TC.

looks like you are missing one. maybe check the connections on the existing ones to see if pins got bend during connection.

I checked and all the RTD simulator plugs are in place at all 4 corners. After reading the instructions on plugging the RTD simulator a gazillion times I am wondering if I need to use both the 3-cavity and 2-cavity RTD plugs at each corner? Quoting from the instructions ..

"Next, unplug the connector from the shock absorber solenoid and replace connection with the supplied plug-in module (2-cavity). Replacing shock absorber with conventional shock absorber will eliminate the pigtail wire connector from the original RTD shock absorber"

Since I am using a conventional shock absorber I am wondering if I still have to use the 2-cavity RTD plug?

These RTD's are just resistors that simulate something being pugged in. when you change the ride control the system looks for a certain current. i have not done this yet but i am sure that yo must plug in the right one to the right connector. hopefully someone who has done this will chime in.

splice in Radio Shack 10ohm, 10 watt resistors into the F45 wire. Worked for me and cost a couple $$. There is one black wire going to the F45 shock sensor. Inside that black wire are 2 smaller ones. Connect the resistor between those 2 wires. Either solder or use crimp connectors for a good connection and enclose in a piece of plastic, such as bubble wrap, and tape shut to prevent water seepage.

I can kick myself in the a$$ for paying $169 for the sims I really hope someone who has used these sims successfully can chime in. I was hoping the stealership Corvette tech knew what he was doing since I have no idea what's going on here.

Why are you evening messing around with it? Take it back to the dealer and make them fix the problem.

I did the delete twice and the first time "SERVICE VEHICLE SOON" would keep dinging, the second time it got worse, the same problem that I have now. I did start the cheap way ..

1., unhook shocks, controller and delete F45 - did not work
2. replace shocks, put F45 sims - did not work

Since I provided the parts, the stealership did the labor, that was the end of story for them. At $99/hr the stealership is more than happy to look at it, that would be my last option

There is a specific sequence that must be followed to delete the option successfully. Delete option then disconnect the ride controller and the shock wires before turning on the car. I suggest the ride controller may be disconnected and is the cause of the simms not resolving the issue. I would suggest that the best resolution is to delete the option so no more simms no more worries. I think the simms will always be a weak spot as they are exposed to the elements and hang under the car. Clean it up once and for all. Sorry about tyou trouble I too had the problem of the tech not knowing how to procede and it cost me money so I feel your pain. Delete the option sell the simms my suggestion. Best of luck

did you unplug the 2 plugs to the module in the rear compartment of your car?
the dealer should have done this? but just check its on the drivers side if they are still plugged then you hve to unplug then delete. if all else fails get the simulators from corvette garage.

I did unplug the controller before delete, did not work, instead of the "SHOCKS INOP" I would get "SERVICE VEHICLE SOON" message. So I bought the sims from corvette garage and the situation is still the same.

You may think you deleted the F45 option but in reality you never completed the process so the BCM was still looking for the RTD module.

Thanks runamuk, since more votes are for the F45 delete option, I might try the procedure again and see if it solves my problem, a lot cheaper option than trying to muck around.

By "disconnecting the ride controller" are you referring to unplugging the selective ride control from the bottom of the center panel?
