Took my vette to the dealer today to try and find out why the battery is constantly dead. They spent most of the day trying to find the problem and then seem to think it is the BCM. They kept he car overnight and are going to start back on it tomorrow.
Does anyone know the part number for a BCM or know where I could find it? I am trying to get an idea of home much this is going to cost.
Thanks, Waiting for a call from the dealer with a price
I hate electrical problems taken to the dealer .....
To be fair to the dealer ... electrical problems can be VERY time consuming to track down ..... so labor costs are high .... usually the actual "fix" is cheap compared to the diagnostic charges.
I'd offer two thoughts .......
1) If you want the dealer to "fix" the problem .... get something IN WRITING that says that if replacing the BCM doesn't "fix" the problem they will re-install your "old" BCM and eat any charges they applied for installing the "new" BCM .....
2) Do a search, or post speciffically your symptoms, and if you have a digital voltage meter, there are several people on this forum who are REALLY good at tracking down electrical issues ..... if you don't have a meter ... BUY ONE .... they are WAY cheaper than what you will be paying the dealer .....
